GENerate a GENealogy BOOK from GEDCOM
/PAF2.31 /PAF3.0/PAF4.0
to WordPerfect or MS Word. ![]()
After
you have entered your Family History data into your genealogy software, GEN-BOOK can read
your data directly from Personal Ancestral File (PAF 2.31/3.0/4.0) and generate a
BOOK. GEN-BOOK can read a GEDCOM file from Family Tree Maker (FTM),
Brothers Keeper (BK), Reunion, Family Origins (FO), Roots, The
Master Genealogist (TMG), or any other genealogy software that will make a GEDCOM
file.![]()
GEN-BOOK can extract the information and
format it into a WordPerfect file. Your family history information is put into
readable book format along with a Title Page, Table of Contents, Chapter Headings, event
notes, sources, and a two- or three-column Index of Names.
You can generate a book of the descendants or ancestors of any
person in your database.
This program allows
beginners to prepare a completely indexed and organized book from their genealogy data by
only answering a few personal choice questions such as the starting person and the number
of generations to be included.
For the advanced
users, the capabilities of WordPerfect or MS Word offers
unlimited manipulation and design of text to create the masterpiece you have always wanted
to create.
INDEX:
Some people judge a
book by its cover.
Most genealogists judge a
book by its index.
The first thing that we do,
when we pick up a genealogy book, is turn to the index and see if it lists any of the
names that we are interested in.
As GEN-BOOK
generates your book, it inserts an index tag near each name.
After you have finished adding additional biographical information
and inserting pictures, your word processor will scan through the document looking for the
index tags and generate a two- or three- column name index.
The index of names may include the year of birth and death, ID
number, wife's maiden and married names, and the name Title (Sr., Jr., II, III, etc).
The names are listed alphabetically by given name
within a common surname.

PAGE
FORMAT:

The
format of each page closely conforms to the Modified Register System. The ID
number preceding each person's name uniquely identifies that individual. The individual's
ID number has been off-set to the left for faster recognition. The superscript number,
following the given name, reflects the number of generations from the starting individual.
When listing descendants, the direct ancestors are listed in parentheses back to the
starting person. All the dates and places, as well as, the spouses and parents are
included.
When listing the children, the ID number is
listed, followed by the sex of each child and a roman numeral indicating the birth-order
within each nuclear family. The plus (+) sign in front of the ID number indicates that
this child was married and that more information will be listed later. Those children who
were not married, will list dates, places, and notes, and then not be listed again later.
