The Sierra Radio Association is a group of amateurs generally located in Northern California and Northwestern Nevada. The group operates a system of linked, UHF repeater systems stretching from Reno NV, through the Sierra and Sacramento area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and down the Central Valley to Fresno. The SRA is an affiliate organization of the Cactus Intertie, an "organization of organizations" that interconnects UHF systems across the western United States as far as Eastern Texas. The SRA system connects to Cactus via it's Meadow Lakes site (east of Fresno) to Frazier Peak in the Tehachipi range at the southern end of the Central Valley of California. In the Cactus Intertie technical architecture, every member of each affiliate organization is, by definition, a "control operator" under Part 97 of the FCC Rules and Regulations. As a result, the system must be closed ... that is, you must be a member of one of the affiliates to utilize any part of the system. If you are interested in membership, and you are in the SRA coverage area, visit the SRA Web Site for further information. If you are in another area, the Cactus Intertie Web Site to locate the affiliate club(s) in your area. |
