Fisher House is a non-profit organization that provides aid and support to military personnel and their families in times of medical emergencies, such as combat injuries, illness, rehabilitation, and the like. They maintain houses at many of the major military and Veterans' hospitals around the world where families can stay, often free of charge, to be close to their loved one while while he or she is receiving medical care.

Fisher House has a huge array of programs, and I urge you to visit their web site for yourself. One example is the Hero Miles program. Through this program, which is run through a number of cooperating airlines, you can donate part or all of your accrued Frequent Flyer miles. Donations are pooled and used to purchase airline tickets for military members and their families for transportation to or from medical facilities. You can donate miles from airlines on line, or via the phone, and the Hero Miles page gives all the details.

The members of our military have made a promise to our Nation, and they are keeping it ... often at great physical, emotional, and financial cost.
