Setting Up Dialup in Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) / 10.4 (Tiger)

  1. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.
  2. Click the Network icon.
  3. Next to "Show:", select your modem.
  4. If it isn't already selected, click the PPP tab.
  5. Enter the following information:
    • Service Provider: Foothill.net
    • Account Name: Your username
    • Password: Your password
    • Telephone Number: Your dialup number
  6. Click "PPP Options..."
  7. Check "Connect automatically..."
  8. Uncheck "Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes", if it isn't already, and click OK.
  9. Click the TCP/IP tab.
  10. Next to "Configure IPv4:", select "Using PPP."
  11. Click the Modem tab.
  12. Next to "Modem:", make sure your modem is selected.
  13. Check "Show modem status in menu bar."
  14. Click Apply Now.
  15. To connect, click the modem icon in the menu bar and click Connect.
  16. To disconnect, click the modem icon, and click Disconnect.
