Setting Up Dialup for Mac OS 8.5
- Double click the Hard drive icon.
- Click Internet to view all folders.
- Double click Internet Setup Assistant.
- A setup assistant will come up. Click yes.
- Click yes to Do you already have a internet account.
- Click the right arrow to continue from the introduction page.
- Type Foothill.Net in the first field. Make sure that Modem is selected and click the right arrow to continue.
- The modem installed in your computer should be already be selected. Make sure that tone dialing is selected. Click the right arrow to continue.
- Type in the number you are dialing to connect to Foothill.net. DO NOT USE THE AREA CODE. Next, type in your username. DO NOT USE A CAPITOL P. Next type in your password. This is case sensitive. Click the right arrow to continue.
- Make sure that the PPP script option is selected no. Click the right arrow to continue.
- Make sure to have the option no selected for IP address. Click the right arrow to continue.
- On the domain name servers page in the first box type:
- 216.171.211.20
- 216.171.192.83
- Type in your full email address ex. username@foothill.net. Type in your password. Case Sensitive. Click the right arrow to continue.
- Make sure that your email address is entered in the first field. Type in the second field: smtp.foothill.net (all lower case.) Click the right arrow to continue.
- Type in the news server info: nntp2.foothill.net. Click the right arrow to continue
- Make sure that NO is selected for proxy servers.
- Click go ahead.
The setup for email and getting online is complete. If there is more than one dial up setup in the computer you must manually switch your dial up connection to Foothill.Net.
To switch manually your connection:
- Click the apple.
- Click the control panel.
- Click TCP/IP.
- Click File at the top of the screen.
- Click Configurations.
- Click Foothill.Net.
- Click Make Active.
- Close TCP/IP.
