Families in Crisis
The plight of some families with which we are involved appear desperate almost beyond comprehension. This is particularly so in the case of laboring widows struggling to raise children alone on an income which may total barely $25 a year.
In such cases we feel that for a child to benefit properly from school attendance it is also essential to provide help to the family.
One way in which a family’s financial needs can be met is to help them purchase a calf or pig. This can then be sold profitably when full grown.
Cows are also essential in the cultivation of rice, particularly in
ploughing and preparing the ground for planting.
The BCP has successfully helped several mountain families in this way, and we look forward to enabling other critically impoverished families improve themselves similarly.
