FTA Cross Country Skiers and Other Snow Trail Users
Snow trails accessed from China Wall, 15 minutes North of Foresthill, are
a new, blossoming opportunity for users. Green sticker fees from motorcycles
have provided funding for the development of a staging area and grooming of
trails during the winter. The Forest Service does the actual trail grooming.
When there is enough snow the Foresthill Rd is
closed at China Wall and you can cross-country ski or snowmobile up Foresthill
Rd for miles. There are also side roads to explore.
In 1996 we had the
first Sled Dog races at the site. They are very entertaining and may well
become a big event in future years. Many FTA members have helped
with the sled dog races.
The FTA, along with the Foresthill Parent Teachers Organization, has
sponsored a Community Snow Play Day at China Wall for the past few years.
This is lots of fun. We usually have a snowman contest, cookies and
hot chocolate, skiing, sledding and more.
If you'd like more information, please send us
email.
