Peachstone Trail

Peachstone Trail provides access to the Western States Trail in the middle of the California St. section (about the 8-mile point). The trail goes from the bottom of Oakwood Ln to the Cal II aid station on the Western States Trail. It is about 3/4 mile down to the WST. There is also a dirt road that goes to the same point and the trail joins with the dirt road after 1/4 mile. The trail was built by the Western States Trail groups because the property owner with the road does not like people using it since it goes through his property. The trail is on the property next door which is for sale (20 acres).

There is a side trail that crosses Peachstone Creek and loops back up to Nugget Dr. In March this trail was blocked off by a wall of brush. We contacted the owner of the property and found that they did not block off the trail and gave us permission to clear it. They also gave us written permission to continue to use the trail through their property. This permission is revokable at any time and was made using the sample permission to use form letter we supplied. This letter protects the owner from liability for recreational trail users and from future claims of prescriptive easements. We are very grateful to be able to use this trail and hope that everyone doing so will be careful and responsible with this gift.
