FTA Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) Riders

There are two extensive OHV areas on the Foresthill Divide. The Mammoth Bar OVH area on the Middle Fork of the American River is accessed by Mammoth Bar Rd. There are picnic areas and several loop trails. Maps are available at the State Parks office on Hwy 49.

The Sugarpine OHV area is much larger with more than 65 miles of trails. It is located North of Foresthill. The staging area is off of Sugarpine Rd. Maps are available at the Forest Service office on Foresthill Rd next to the Middle School.

Other trail users have greatly benefitted from the generosity of OHV users. OHV trails are generally open for use by other trail users. The grooming of snow trails and the staging facility at China Wall are funded by OHV green sticker fees. We also find OHV riders joining with us to work on trails that they cannot even ride. We are truly grateful for this generosity.
