Thank you for your renewals. Renewal money is used for the purchase of
insurance so that we can work on trails and sponsor events, the newsletter,
trail signs and maps. If you haven't renewed, please do so quickly, to
keep you on the mailing list. $20 for a membership with voting rights,
or $10 associate membership to keep you informed.
Oh So Scenic Bicycle/Run Event: Saturday March 20th, 8 AM
This year's event will incorporate the new Foresthill Divide Loop Trail.
The route starts and finishes at White Oak Flat, goes down McKeon-Ponderosa
Way to the Middle Fork, up Driver's Flat Rd, then crosses Foresthill Rd and
goes on the Foresthill Divide Loop trail North Fork side first and returns
on the Middle Fork side to Driver's Flat Rd, then back to White Oak Flat
the way you came. There will be aid stations at the gravel parking area
near the top of Driver's Flat Rd, Upper Lake Clementine Rd, and at the
bottom of Driver's Flat Rd on the way back. The distance is approximately
23 miles. This is a free, fun event. Racing, especially on bikes, is
not encouraged since we are sharing a popular multi-use trail and there will
be equestrians there and safety is a concern. We are limited to 70 entries and
pre-registration
is required to ensure that we don't exceed this limit and help us plan
aid stations. For more information, call Jack Meyer at (530) 367-4857.
Trail Tip
Horsebackriders: when in a staging area on the road or in front of a home
or business, please remember to scoop up your horse droppings and scatter
them in the bushes. A member, who is a horse owner, noticed unsightly
piles left at the Driver's Flat curve on Foresthill Rd.
January Meeting
The members attending had a chance to review the revised web site. Old
information was deleted and new information was updated. If you see old
information, or changes that need to be made, please contact Sherri Osborn
(530) 367-3928. It is helpful when many eyes are looking to keep the
information accurate.
The Oh So Scenic route was discussed and it was decided to use the new
loop trail.
Membership renewals are important because the insurance is due in March.
Open Forum: A member came in to discuss what to do with our animals when
we have to evacuate because of a wildfire. She was concerned because she
was told by a sheriff that no horse trailers would be allowed to leave
by Foresthill Rd. Since no clear plan is intact, there needs to be one.
Please plan to attend the Wildfire on the Divide event sponsored by the
Forest Service. The date of May 16th has been set. Check with the Forest
Service in Foresthill for more information (530) 367-2224.
