23DEC06 - Troop 4's older Scouts headed to Sea Base this last Summer - the BSA's High Adventure Base in the Florida Keys! Scoutmaster Jeff Lund prepared a trip log of this 12 day trek that is now available on the Troop's web site! His journal and photos are posted in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. You'll need the free Acrobat Reader program to view these files. To see all the available PDF files from Jeff's journal go to Our Sea Base Trek!

05SEP06 - The Troop's online discussion board has been under attack by a 'spam bot' for sometime now. Hundreds of unauthorized attempts to post to the board have been denied by the software. Unfortunately, it apears that the hackers have been able to bypass the login security. As a result, at least one unauthorized message was distributed to the Troop's email list. To try to keep this from happening again, all email distribution functions have been disabled as of this evening. Please notify me at bsatroop4@foothill.net if you get what appears to be spam emails from the Troop's board or the Troop's email address.

20AUG03 - The Troop's listings of Eagle Scouts and Scoutmasters has been updated to include Eagle Scouts we've located over the last year and to add more notes. These files are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. You'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these files. The files are less than 10KB in size and load fairly quickly.

Be sure to let us know if you know of any Eagle Scouts or Scoutmasters we've missed. The Troop was reported to have about 150 Eagles on its 50TH anniversary in the 70's. Based on this, we've only identified about 1/3rd of our Eagles so far! We are working on engraving redwood timbers with the names and dates of all of our Eagle Scouts. The timbers will hang in the Scout Lodge when completed later this year. We'll leave room for the Eagles we know we've missed! New Eagles will be able to engrave their names alongside those of their and fellow Eagles; often their cousins, brothers, Uncles, or Fathers.

13AUG03 - Show Your Support for Troop 4!

Not everyone knows that all Scout Troops are self supporting. They must raise all of the funds necessary to purchase their equipment and support their Scouting and community service programs. Troop 4 does this through a number a ways. Our Scouts host car washes, soda and popcorn sales and help our sponsoring organization with their fund raisers. We also recycle ink jet and laser printer cartridges, sell scrip (gift cards) from local merchants, operate a Troop uniform bank, sell Troop t-shirts, sweatshirts and mugs, and more.

This new web page will help keep us all up to date on the fund raising programs we offer. Be sure to take a look. You might be surprised how easy it is to help us help our Scouts.

All proceeds from Troop 4 fund raisers go directly to the support of our local Scouting program.

12OCT02 - Troop 4's Eagles Nest now lists all known Eagle Scouts and includes a PDF file listing the Eagles by date!

The list currently has 60 Eagle Scouts listed. From newspaper accounts, including a 1974 article on Sam Partridge's 50th anniversary in Scouting, we believe we've identified less than half of the Troop's Eagles so far. Please feel free to post information on those that we've missed, or contact the Troop's web site advisor directly with whatever information you may have.

Don't forget, you do need a user account to post to the Troop's web site. They're available to all Troop members and alumni.

We'll need parent and community volunteers to pull this schedule together so don't be surprised when you're asked to lend a hand. Of course, you don't have to wait to be asked, if you see events that you'd like to go on, just let any Scouter at the Monday meetings know and we'll be happy to sign you up!
